How to Create a Xanthan Gum Slurry for Emulsion Stability
To prevent clumping and ensure smooth incorporation into your formulation, follow these steps to create a xanthan gum slurry using glycerin:
Instructions:
1. Measure Ingredients
Weigh out 0.2% xanthan gum (relative to your total formulation).
Measure a small amount of glycerin (approximately 2–5 times the weight of xanthan gum).
2. Create the Slurry
In a small beaker or mixing vessel, sprinkle xanthan gum into the glycerin.
Stir or mix thoroughly until a uniform paste or slurry forms.
3. Incorporate Into Your Formula
Slowly add the slurry to the water phase of your formulation while stirring.
Continue mixing until the xanthan gum fully disperses and the solution is smooth.
This method ensures even dispersion of xanthan gum, preventing clumps and improving the stability and texture of your emulsion.
