Formulation Advice
In order for succinic acid to become fully soluble, the pH needs to raised to 4.8 before adding to the remaining portion of your water-phase.Â

In our personal testing, we have found that it is best to reserve a portion of the water-phase to combine with the succinic acid. Then, we like to use a strong base such as Sodium Hydroxide to create a 20% solution to increase the pH to 4.8 under stirring. The total weight of the mixture becomes your water portion of your formula (or part of).Â

PRO TIP: to reduce the amount of Alkaline solution needed to raise the pH, you can increase the concentration of your alkaline solution to 50% sodium hydroxide which would require less to be added in order to increase the pH up to the 4.8 required for the succinic acid to become completely soluble in your water portion.Â
