Olivem® 1000 is an easy to use, natural, PEG-free self-emulsifying ingredient derived from olive oil fatty acids, designed to simplify the creation of smooth, stable oil-in-water (O/W) emulsions. It is Known for its biomimetic properties, it closely resembles the skin’s natural lipid composition, allowing it to deeply moisturize, restore barrier function, and enhance the delivery of active ingredients.
This ingredient is a formulator’s dream—offering ease of use, elegant textures, and a mild, skin-friendly profile ideal for clean beauty brands. It forms liquid crystal structures in emulsions, which mimic the natural organization of lipids in the skin, resulting in excellent hydration and a non-soapy, silky after feel. • Final formulation should have a pH of 3.0 – 12.0
• Can handle up to 20% oil phase without a co-emulsifier
• The stability is best supported by adding a low concentration of a gum at 0.2%.
• For additional thickening properties, you can add cetearyl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, or oliwax LC at 1-2%.
• If you experience “soaping” this can be addressed by adding 0.5 – 2.0% Olivem 2090 to your formulation.
