Geogard Ultra™ is a synergistic, patented blend comprised of gluconolactone and sodium benzoate. What makes this preservative unique is the synergy between the two ingredients, allowing for its broad spectrum efficacy. This preservative is not heat sensitive and is widely accepted in natural products.
We will be changing the name of this product to: BioDefend™ Ultra.

Formulation Advice
Heat Sensitive: No
pH efficacy range: 3.0 – 6.0
• Can be incorporated into the water-phase up to 2%.
• To enhance efficacy and prevent pH drifts that would impact long-term efficacy, combine with sodium citrate at a 1:1.5 ratio of Geogard Ultra to Sodium Citrate.
• Add to the water-phase and raise pH to 7-7.5; gently heat if necessary to fully dissolve. Once finished, adjust the final pH to 5.0 – 5.5.
How it Works
Typically, organic acids on their own are too weak and often require a co-preservative or booster in order to perform optimally. The gluconolactone in this blend works together with the sodium benzoate to act as an efficient preservative booster that is also non-GMO. Geogard Ultra™’s gluconolactone works by slowly releasing gluconic acid over time, which helps contribute to the preservation.
