Arginine (L-Arginine) Base

Arginine (aka l-Arginine) is a naturally occurring amino acid; it is natural component of protein-rich foods including meat, fish, legumes, nuts and dairy. In cosmetics, arginine is utilized for its alkalinity, making an effective buffering agent to raise the pH of a final formulation.

Arginine is an amino acid that occurs naturally in the skin and can also be used as an cosmeceutical to condition dry skin; it is an excellent skin conditioning and moisturizing ingredient that supports the barrier function, working synergistically with moisturizing fruit acids and trehalose to maintain skin moisture, smooth skin, and reduce flaking of dandruff.

Arginine can act as an anchor for the uptake of PCA and various other amino acids or can be used as a natural neutralizer in place of less desirable ingredients such as triethanolamine or Sodium Hydroxide. Arginine has soothing properties and helps to repair visible skin damage.
